Kyle Whittingham to Continue as Head Football Coach

Harlan brings a wealth of experience to Utah, having served as athletic director at the University of South Carolina since 2015.

The University of Utah has announced the appointment of Mark Harlan as its new athletic director, effective immediately. Harlan will oversee all aspects of the university's athletic department, including football, basketball, and other sports.

Harlan has a long and successful history in athletic administration. Prior to his tenure at South Carolina, he served as athletic director at the University of Houston from 2009 to 2015. During his time at Houston, Harlan oversaw the construction of the TDECU Stadium and led the university's transition from Conference USA to the American Athletic Conference.

Harlan's appointment comes at a time of transition for Utah athletics. The university recently announced that Kyle Whittingham will continue as head football coach despite speculation that he might leave for another job. Whittingham has been the head coach at Utah since 2005 and has led the team to 13 bowl games, including the 2008 BCS National Championship Game.
