WEB US Airmen conclude Australia's largest-ever air exercise

Air Force Airmen participating in Exercise Pitch Black 2024 in Australia concluded operations today marking the end of the exercise.

US Airmen and their counterparts from the Royal Australian Air Force conducted a wide range of air combat training missions during the exercise, which is designed to enhance interoperability between the two air forces.

The exercise also provided an opportunity for the Airmen to train in a realistic environment and to learn from each other's best practices.

"Exercise Pitch Black was a great opportunity for our Airmen to train with our Australian partners and to learn from each other," said Col. David Lyons, commander of the 354th Fighter Wing. "The exercise was a success, and we are grateful for the opportunity to have participated."

The Royal Australian Air Force is one of the United States' closest allies in the Asia-Pacific region. The two air forces have a long history of working together, and they continue to cooperate on a wide range of issues, including air defense, counterterrorism, and humanitarian assistance.

Exercise Pitch Black is a biennial exercise that is hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force. The exercise is designed to enhance interoperability between the air forces of the participating nations. This year's exercise was the largest ever, with over 100 aircraft and 2,500 personnel from six countries participating.
